Welcome to GotyList! Tired of everyone trying to figure out where games fit into the complex world of the Video Game Awards, we erected this site back in late 2007 to compile awards from every major media entity in order to distinguish a true overall winner. Scavanging the 'net and mercilessly scrutinizing sites to make sure they complied with our rules, our list contains every major professional english gaming publication out there, along with many minor ones. Recently, our service has started to scan for foreign sites, including awards from Italy, Germany, France, Turkey, Sweden, The Middle East, India, and much more.
Gotylist is managed by three dedicated Canadian individuals. Their internet profiles are; Mr. X, NewAgeGaming666, and CauliflowerFTW. As interesting as their names sound, their work for this site is much more astounding. If you are looking to help us out, please don't hesitate to ask. Go ahead and scavenge the internet for some more minor awards that we might have missed. Sad that you favourite game isn't so far up this list? Take it into your hands by finding the awards it won that we might have missed, albeit still abiding to the rules of this list. Leave their names and links in the comment section, where we will investigate it, and hopefully add it to our list. Contribute a decent amount, and we might ask you to join our staff. Happy Hunting!
Reader's Choice
Reader's choice awards are included on our site, for they are appropriate tools to gauge the popularity of a game amongst gamers. Focusing just on the editor awards would be doing an injustice to the opinions of the collective pools of the millions of gamers out there.
Rules
- No one-man staffed blogs or small sites. Awards must be from a panel of more than one person.
- Awards must be all-format. No platform specific GOTY awards.
- Games only released in Japan are not included.
- No indie, arcade, or website games included.
- Forum polls will be included if the results are officially announced, either on the forum or somewhere else in the domain. Small polls created by community members are not considered GOTY.
